MUNI - Department of Neighborhoods

The Department of Neighborhoods manages the Municipality’s U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grants. These grants include the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME). The department also receives through its entitlement the Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG), which the Department of Health and Human Services manages through its Social Services Division’s Safe City Program.

The Alaska Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired acts to make sure that vision loss is not the barrier to Alaskans meeting their vocational goals or living safely and independently in retirement.

United Way of Tanana Valley

United Way of the Tanana Valley is a unique community partnership that brings together the people and resources of the Fairbanks area to address community-wide issues. United Way:

mobilizes the community’s resources, uniting businesses, government, charitable sectors, and citizens to solve community-wide problems and create lasting changes in community conditions;
provides funding and management assistance to the non-profit sector;
and links donors to the issues they care about.

Assistive Technology of Alaska | ATLA

ATLA is a nonprofit organization specializing in assessments, assistive technology, and technology training services. We work with government, business, education, health services organziations, and individuals to provide accedssible and cost-effective technology solutions to promote independent living and success.

Assistive Technology (AT) includes both devices and services. A device is any item or piece of equipment used to maintain or improve the functional capabilities of a person with a disability. Many high-tech and low-tech devices are now available to assist people with disabilities with daily living tasks, communication, education, work, and recreation.

Challenge Alaska (CA) is a non-profit organization that provides sports and therapeutic recreation opportunities for those with disabilities. Challenge Alaska believes that everyone, regardless of physical ability, should have an equal chance at recreational opportunities.

The Alaska Resource Manual is a comprehensive, statewide health and human service directory published by Access Alaska for over 15 years. The Alaska Resource Manual is an invaluable information and referral resource tool for social service providers and non-profit organizations serving low-income families who require health and human services.

This manual has been discontinued and is no longer available.
