Independent Wellness

Access Alaska’s Independent Wellness mental health service coordination program serves adults with Serous Mental Illness (SMI) in the Anchorage and Fairbanks regions.

Consumers served by the Independent Wellness Program (IWP) service providers achieve great success using a case management delivery approach that offers a clear alternative to the traditional mental health center model.

Access Alaska’s IWP service providers deliver case management and skill building in the community to adults who desire control over the development of their treatment plan and services delivered.  The IWP is funded primarily through Medicaid and Independent Living grant dollars.  Each consumer is assigned a case manager who works along-side the person to facilitate a higher quality of life through overcoming any obstacle to living independently.  IWP service providers assist consumers served to achieve greater connectedness to their communities and the program uses a best-practices approach to achieve a maximized effective outcome.
