Pre-Employment Transition Services (Fairbanks, AK)

The Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) program has been successfully providing career exploration, work readiness training and work-based learning to students in Alaska’s Interior since 2016.  Our program provides students ages 15-21, who experience a disability (IEP, 504 Plan, documentation etc.), with the tools and experience to gain and maintain employment as they prepare to transition to independence after high school. Students complete this program with applicable tools and experience – such as research into career clusters and pathways, resume writing, interview skills, soft/interpersonal skills, self-advocacy and practice in real work environments, with some opportunities including pay. The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation funded program currently operates the following flagship programs, with secondary opportunities available:

In-School Pre-ETS – 10-12 weeks of lessons including career exploration, work readiness and soft skills administered in high school SSP classes or in Access Alaska’s Fairbanks Youth Room.

Summer Work Program – 4 week immersive work-based learning coupled with education hours in Access Alaska’s Youth Room. Explore and practice career opportunities in the Fairbanks area with a group of peers and earn a paycheck!
